Ratnapura, August 15, 2025 – Gem City 2025 opened today in Ratnapura with a glittering start, drawing large numbers of visitors from Sri Lanka and overseas. The prestigious opening ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Harini Amarasooriya, Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti, Deputy Minister of Industries Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province Champa Janaki Rajaratne, and Priyantha Weliwatta, of the Lanka Gem Dealers and Miners Association.
The event was also attended by H.N.K.T. Dulani, Director General of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA), along with officers and all members whose efforts brought the exhibition to life. Organised by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, the show featured dazzling displays of rare gems and exquisite jewellery, captivating buyers, collectors, and enthusiasts.
Gem City 2025 continues on August 16th and 17th at the Grand Silver Ray Hotel, Ratnapura – a must-visit for anyone wishing to experience Sri Lanka’s finest gem heritage.
An exhibitor briefing meeting for the upcoming Gem City Rathnapura exhibition was held at the Demuwawatha Gem Tower, Rathnapura. The meeting brought together participating exhibitors, where important details about the exhibition were shared, including event guidelines, stall arrangements, and promotional activities. The session aimed to ensure all exhibitors are well-prepared to showcase the finest gems and jewellery, highlighting Rathnapura’s reputation as the City of Gems.
A media briefing regarding the “Gem City” Rathnapura International Gem and Jewellery Exhibition, organized by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority and scheduled to be held in Rathnapura on August 15, 16, and 17, 2025, was held on 28 May 2025 under the patronage of Hon. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, State Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
